SOLODEX

CARS SoloDex 2006 Series

CARS SoloDex 2k6 Series - Competition and Rule Change Summary

Novices:

Newcomers to SoloDex competition (Rookies) will be placed in the Novice (NE) class until they have competed in 6 SoloDex events or won two events in the NE class, whichever comes first.  Championship points will be accumulated towards the Rookie championship, however, Rookies who are transferred mid season, will have their championship points recalculated based on their times relative to those of the class they are transferred into.

Classes:

There will be 7 classes of competition in the 2k6 series NE, GS, HS, ES, ESP, SS, EP.  Except in the NE class, cars with modifications that significantly improve the car’s performance potential over the standard for the class will be placed in the next higher class.  R compound tyres and slicks are allowed without penalty in all classes except NE.  Consideration will be given to NE competitors based on the car and driver’s experience on a case by case basis.

Examples of modifications that will cause a class bump:

Coil Over (adjustable ride height) shocks

Full Race Camber kits.
Race modified suspension mount points
Ride height less than 5” from the driver’s side floor pan
Wheels over 7.5”
Adjustable brake proportioning valve(s).

Class Determination:

A competitor’s class will be determined using one, some or all of the following:

  1. Actual measurements of weight and power using scales and HP measuring devices.
  2. Measurement of ¼ mile times using AutoSport’s timing equipment and / or a GTECH Pro device.
  3. Manufacturers’ specifications of Power and Weight to determine Power/Weight ratio for the stock vehicle.
  4. Following is a guide to the classification of vehicles for 2006 competitions:

Class Bumping:

A car’s performance potential will be re-assessed as in (3) above if CARS receives an official protest from a competitor within the same class or at the discretion of the SoloDex Sub Committee.  If a car is found to be outside of its class at any time during the competition year, the car would be retroactively re-classed unless the competitor can prove when modifications that caused the reclassification became effective.  Championship points earned will be recalculated based on the reclassification, and any trophies won by the competitor(s) during the year must be surrendered for redistribution to the competitor(s) who would have won the classes at the various events.

Working At Events:

Championship Entrants who volunteer to work as an official for an event must register but will not be allowed to compete in the event and will earn their average championship points earned from all SoloDex Championship events they competed in for the year.  Championship entrants will only be allowed to earn Championship points in this way for one event in each championship year.

Overall Championship Showdown:

The Championship showdown will have a maximum of 7 competitors consisting of the Class champions (competitors earning Championship points from 4 events in one class) in each of the 6 classes GS, HS, ES, ESP, SS and EP, and the overall champion from the previous year.  If any class has no qualified champion, the “free” space in the shootout will be given on the basis of maximum championship points earned by qualified champions.
